Management of controlled environments

Given the safety and ultra-clean environment constraints in new production processes, many activities require controlled working areas and the implementation of technologies needed to work in them.

Environmental control techniques today cover a wide range of applications arising both from end user applications (pharmaceuticals, medical research, microelectronics, photovoltaic applications, nuclear energy…) and from implementation techniques (clean rooms, laminar flows, insulators, gloveboxes…).



Application of supercritical fluids

Supercritical CO2 can be used in the processing of natural or organic products.
It allows for the development of alternative solutions for cleaning and decontamination processes thereby replacing chemical solvents for degreasing, pollutant extraction, etc. It is also used in the synthesis of nano-materials and for extraction of high value-added molecules from vegetables for cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, foods, etc.

Supercritical water is used in the final processing of organic waste, providing, in some cases, the possibility of producing hydrogen.


Supercritical Fluid Innovation

Supercritical Fluid Innovation is an "association" based on french law 1901 which gathered experts and users of supercritical fluid techonologies.

Targets and activities :

  • Stimulate development of supercritical fluid technologies on a national and international scale
  • Encourage development of industrial applications
  • Promote supercritical fluid technologies at a sustainable level



Use of separation and membrane technologies

Separation technologies are fundamentally based on physical-chemical principles which do not modify the physical properties of the materials being separated. They are “gentle” methods, which ensure the organic traceability of the natural materials processed and avoid the use of solvents and the production of toxic waste.

Membrane technologies are attractive given the worldwide awareness of energy issues because they open up access to new energy vectors: H2, H2+CO2…

Membranes will play a key role in the renewable energy, pollution control, quality and science of life markets.



Production and exploitation of algae biomass

Numerous research and exploitation projects concerning micro and macro algae production are being established at the international level. Potential applications exist in a number of areas such as cosmetics, energy, the green chemical industry, human and animal food supplies, etc.

The Mediterranean coast is ideal for growing algae (sun exposure, temperature, lagoons, coastlines, ponds).

Macro and micro algae production offers opportunities in numerous sectors such as bio-fuels, health, chemistry, and the food industry.
Ecoprocedures developed by Trimatec ensure sustainable and clean exploitation methods.

The Algasud action
Algasud aims at structuring  and developping networking on the algae biomass.
It is led by Trimatec in partnership with Transferts LR and ChemSud. It is financed by Europe, France and Languedoc-Roussillon Region (local authority).
Algasud's targets is to encourage the development of industrial projects, to gather specialists of the algae biomass and to hold the creation of specific training.
